Lear to Pole Dance
Experience ID: 155
An exciting opportunity to join the ranks of this alternative fitness craze. Erroneously and unfairly linked exclusively with strippers, this is an activity that can bring joy and fitness to everybody. Pole dancing is becoming an ever popular hobby for great reasons. Learning spins, climbs and turns from the qualified and helpful pole dancers, you soon get a feel for the activity and before too long will be composing your own routines. The added kicker of toning all your limbs and strengthening your core should only serve to encourage repeat activity and practises at home. Not to mention the increased attention of your partner with your new found skills.
Open your mind to a fantastic form of exercise where your body will perform seemingly impossible feats of strength with the purpose of defying gravity at the beat of club-style music. As a beginner, you will have to slowly develop enough strength and confidence, so be patient. Everything is trial and error. You will gradually sculpt and condition your core, arms, and legs. The first moves you will learn will involve spins and dancing on the ground as you build muscle tone and together they will later be put into a short routine. The classes is structured to include warm up, stretching, “pole-time,” and cool down.
- Wear a tank top and shorts. The pole’s direct contact with your skin prevents slippage.
- Wash your hands. Don’t apply lotion, oils or moisturizer on hands and body.
- Dust your palms with chalk to stop squeaking as you move on the pole and avoid skin burns.
- Bring a water bottle.
- Full instruction is given.
Should I wear heels?
If you are a beginner, you will start out barefoot or sneakers. Once you master the techniques, you can bring your sturdy-heeled, t-strap heels!
Can I get hurt?
For your safety you will be taught by a professional teacher. They will monitor your posture and make sure you don’t harm your body. The poles you use in class are well designed steel or brass and won’t compromise your safety.
